Salma Sharif – Equality and Diversity

Salma Sharif is 22 years old and lives in Bedford. Salma currently runs an organisation in Bedford to help women achieve their aspirations and encourage them to engage in active roles in the community. In her spare time, Salma enjoys reading about history, biographies and current affairs.

Salma received an email about vision2learn and after looking at the courses available in her area, Salma came across vision2learn’s Equality and Diversity programme. She told us:

"Issues relating to culture and diversity really interest me and it was a subject that I could understand and hopefully learn more about. I was pleased that the course was online as this was much more convenient and I was able to work at my own pace."

Salma really enjoyed the course, particularly being able to work in her own time. She appreciated the fact that she was able to gain a qualification without having to attend a college. Salma explained:

"Online learning was a new experience for me, and one which I have really enjoyed. For me, it was more about being able to take part, get a qualification and not be excluded because I cannot make it to a college to attend classes."

Salma felt that she really benefited from the knowledge that she gained from this course, she told us:

"I understand a lot more about the grievance procedures that people need to go through to challenge discrimination. In addition, I’ve learnt about the responsibility of employers to make sure that diversity and culture are promoted in the workplace."
"I really enjoyed being able to work at my own pace and at times which were convenient for me, and yet still receiving full support from my online tutor!"

Salma had a great experience with vision2learn and is looking forward to completing more courses in the future. When asked if she would recommend vision2learn to anyone else, Salma told us:

"Definitely! I know a lot of people that would benefit from studying online with vision2learn!"
