Debbie Cavalli – IT programmes

Debbie Cavalli Debbie Cavalli is a 34–year–old mother of two and lives in Beckenham, Kent. Before having children, she worked as a retail manager and currently works in sales for an insurance company. Debbie is keen to learn new skills before her youngest child goes to school to help restart her career.

As well as her new-found love of learning, Debbie also enjoys running in her spare time, having recently given up smoking.

Whilst searching on the Internet for learning opportunities, Debbie came across vision2learn and opted for an intermediate level IT course. She finds it difficult to attend evening classes due to childcare commitments, so vision2learn was ideal. Debbie said:

"There was a centre close to where I live offering a similar course, but due to childcare I couldn’t commit at the time – the vision2learn course appealed as I could do it from home late at night when the children were asleep."

Completing a vision2learn IT course has really boosted Debbie’s confidence and she now feels that she could apply for a new job using computers. She added:

"I feel I now have enough knowledge to be confident in an interview for a clerical position, even though I have never worked in this area before."

Debbie really enjoyed studying online and appreciated the help and support that she received from her online tutor.

"At first I panicked slightly and didn’t read through the assessment properly and, probably like many others, had to resubmit the first assessment! But I soon found my feet. I found myself really looking forward to getting my tutor’s feedback."

Debbie is keen to spread the word about online learning and has encouraged two family members to sign up for free vision2learn courses.

Debbie has even enrolled on vision2learn’s Healthy Eating course. She just goes to show that it’s possible to fit studying around childcare commitments and learn practical new skills to help boost your career.
